Seismic protection

We are pioneers in the design of modern seismic protection systems in Peru. We design the system and the structure together, and we oversee the manufacturing, testing and installation of the devices.

How we do it

Seismic isolation and energy dissipation, from concept to testing and installation.

01Seismic isolation

A flexible interface between the foundation and the superstructure lengthens the building's period and reduces the accelerations it receives, in many cases by 80% or more.

02Energy dissipation

Yielding, viscous or tuned mass dampers absorb part of the earthquake's energy and protect both the structure and its contents.

03Supplier freedom

We specify generic device properties: the client buys with commercial flexibility and performance is guaranteed.

04Testing and installation

We supervise testing protocols, including at international laboratories such as Eucentre (Pavia, Italy), as well as on-site installation.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What is seismic isolation?
It is a protection system that places flexible devices, the isolators, between the foundation and the building. By lengthening the vibration period, it reduces the forces and accelerations that reach the structure, its occupants, and its contents.
When is seismic isolation mandatory in Peru?
Seismic isolation standard E.031 requires base isolation for new category A1 healthcare facilities (public and private, second level of care and above) located in seismic zones 4 and 3.
How much does it cost to isolate a building?
The initial added cost is usually marginal compared to the reduction in risk and losses over the building's service life. It depends on height, configuration, and soil; we estimate it at the schematic design stage.
How does energy dissipation differ from isolation?
Isolation decouples the building from the ground; energy dissipation adds devices within the structure that absorb part of the earthquake's energy. Dissipation is usually the better fit for tall buildings.
